SCULPTURES AND OTHER ARTWORKS

This vast collection comprises over 9,500 works dating from the 18th to the 21st centuries. As well as Neuchâtel artists such as the sculptor and medallist Fritz Landry, major Swiss sculptors are represented including Charles Iguel, Ferdinand Schlöth, James Vibert and Auguste de Niederhäusern (known as Rodo).

Among the most prestigious exhibits, mention should be made of the busts of Isabelle de Charrière and the Comte de Buffon by Jean-Antoine Houdon, and also the bronze works by Jean-Louis Meissonier and Franz von Stuck. Other historical and modern movements are represented by artists such as Auguste Rodin, Aristide Maillol, François Pompon, Victor Vasarely, André Ramseyer, Gianfredo Camesi, Ueli Berger, Angel Duarte and Denis De Rudder.

More recently, the collection has been augmented by several "objects" created by plastic artists who now transcend the established categories: examples include François Jaques, Sebastian Muniz and Michel Collet, represented by his CD jewel case that combines subtlety with humour.
