CERAMICS AND GLASS

Ceramics and glass are well represented in the collections, with almost 3,600 items dating from the period between the Renaissance and the 20th century. Ceramics are in the majority. Swiss porcelain, earthenware and pottery make up the most consistent collections, complemented by sets manufactured in other countries: Germany, France, England, China and Japan. Tiled stoves and individual tiles from homes in the region tell us about the decorative styles that were in fashion in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The 600 items in the glass collection mainly comprise emblazoned stained glass, drinking glasses and jugs from Central Switzerland with painted decoration, and pieces manufactured in the Doubs region with engraved decoration.
