As a material, a means of recording experiences and an essential medium of knowledge transfer that dates back thousands of years, paper is the point of convergence for the questions addressed by the invited artists and their work: paper as the meeting-place. The exhibition addresses the concepts of space between the Orient and the Occident, of relativism and the hybridisation of identity; its underlying dynamic is the resonance between different cultures and means of expression. Sweeping brush strokes, the fluency and precision of an Indian ink drawing, an audio composition and an in-situ installation: these elements come to life as visitors make their way through the rooms, revealing a richness of media, languages and sensitivities.

The participatory nature of this project will also be highlighted by our collaboration with MUSEC (Museum of Cultures) at Lugano, where the exhibition will be on show in autumn 2021.
